YAMAHA 2002 YZ250F (Score: +1)

Rider
5' 4" / 145 / Intermediate

Power:

The power comes on when you turn the thottle - turn it to much to fast - your likly to really love this motorcycle - smooth and quick, plenty of traction...

Ergonomics:

The stock handle bar width is spot on for me - the height of the bars and seat while standing is a comfortable fit and works well at any speed. plus this bike looks and sounds great!

Suspension, Front:

for my size and weight - stock works great - just tune to your style...change fluids...like most bikes...your good to go....

Suspension, Rear:

for my size and weight - stock works great - just tune to your style...change fluids...like most bikes...your good to go....

Handling:

YAMAHA has a very nice geometry to their frames (always have),,minor changes to the forks and shock will do wonders..

Brakes:

The brakes are fantastic,,plus they will stop you with-out sending you over the top..smooth and strong

Comments:

Over all I am happy with this YAMAHA YZ250F and proud to ride such a bike! Its fast - very fast! and handles like a dirt bike thats has a long history of changes and improvements under its belt (145 lbs rider.)ride it...fine tune it...then ride some more, I have been riding dirt bikes for 35+yrs RW8

to fast 4 your 125 2-smoke (Score: +1)

Rider
6'1" / 180 / Intermediate

Power:

plenty of power. lot less down shifting. power is there at the turn of the throttle. my yzf has been tweaked quit a bit. mega bomb fmf shorty ect.ect.

Ergonomics:

feels great, great bike out of gate. lot less clutch time more time spent passing 2-smokes

Suspension, Front:

front suspension a tad weak, but i weigh 180# could use stiffer front suspension for me personaly.

Suspension, Rear:

no problems try to stay off seat as much as i can

Handling:

kinda rough on the handling end but for sure the bike will help you stay under control, bike will correct it's self real well in a bad woops section

Brakes:

keep good brand of pads on the bike and keep mud out of them stops great.

Comments:

well not to say that a 125 2-smoke would not keep up with a yz 250f it would all depend on the nature of the rider. if you had to equel rider on your 2-smoke and my 4 stroke it would be a fine race to see. my son races in the 85 class and turns laps as fast as the guy's in the 250 C- class. go figure. sure I have always loved 2-smokes but soon enough you will have no choice but to jump on a 4-stroke. so in closing "don't be a bike hater, hate the track"

Why.........? (Score: +1)

Power:

Hehehehehe i dont get why everybody raves about how powerfull this bike is. Had some power in the lower range but didnt seem to be going places in a big hurry after that. To me it felt like i was beating it the whole time trying to get the damn thing to even slightly impress me. The midrange was a joke and the upper rev range, while it reved way to high for a thumper was sad. My brothers 1982 RM125 absolutly tore this thing apart. I was turning way faster lap times on the RM125. Overall power was a big joke. this thing felt like riding a poorly tuned XR250R. All you guys claiming the glory of the new thumpers, what are you smoking and why are'nt you sharing?

Ergonomics:

Had a rather unusual stance to it. Doesnt feel like it should qualify as a YZ. Somehow feels like sitting on a TANK.

Suspension, Front:

I loved the way the suspention fely, handled rather well for a tank, no complaints here,

Suspension, Rear:

wonderfull, the evolution of the rear suspention on my YZ490s. Does very well for an over weight underpowered toy.

Handling:

Marginal, the weight tended to make the frount end push in corners.

Brakes:

They work very well. No complaints.

Comments:

Thumpers Suck. A good running ringy dingy things *ie two stroke* would do you better as a racer, good begginers MXer. Those of you claiming a thumper is faster than an oil burner and LAZY. Thumpers deliver what power they do have in a more useable manner. A two stroke will tear it apart if ridden correctly. Four strokes are faster than two strokes.......?....Use the cluch and stop beeing lazy.

Power:

the power is awesome on this thing.i rode an 01 one that had mods done to it and the bone stock 02 feels that it has the same power. this motor rips. A++++++

Suspension:

the suspension is very stiff for me i weigh only 120 pounds and ive only rode it once so far so i think it needs to be broken in.

Handling:

the handling seems to be very well ive rode it on the trails and it was great. cant wait to ride it on the track.

Brakes:

i dont really like the brakes to well my yz 80 had better brakes than this things but i have only rode it once now. i think yamaha should buy the patent from honda.

Comments:

i love this bike the bike is excellent everywhere and is good for trail riding and mx. if i had a choice i think this is all i would ever own maybe a 2 smoke just to have that 2 smoke feel and getting on that clutch in the corners. and it cranks 1 or 2 kicks. i odnt know why people complaining baout starting you just have to know the drill and the jetting needs to be right on it.A+++++++
