 Power: |
good usable low, will pull in 5th from any speed, brutal when power valve comes on, hit the power in a turn, and it's gonna slide. |
|
 Suspension: |
i have had problems on loose rocks causing the front to jump about. |
|
 Handling: |
good handling, although not as nimble as my previous '87 yz250. |
|
 Brakes: |
excellent, front has great feeling, back is very strong but easily locks. |
|
 Comments: |
the power transition from mid to high revs is very 'switchy' although this bike is meant to scream, it is a powerful crosser, but for trailing it can be a bit of a handful, i've dislocated my shoulder coming off this bike with the back sliding apparently uncontrollably sometimes, respect the power |

Seems ok. handels well through ruts. No problems over jumps. just watch out for loose bolts! |
|
 Handling: |
handels well. Power out of corners turns it side ways. |
|
 Brakes: |
Brilliant. easy to do stoppies. stops when you tell it to. |

 Power: |
Great power, a nice healthy spread, makes wheelies real easy. It could use a bit more over-rev for some extra top-speed, but I can't complain, it's 90% rider, 10% bike. More power than I'd ever need in trails. |
|
 Suspension: |
Great, it does feel kinda stiff when riding rocks or sharp edged bumps, but it soaks any hard hits right up without a hitch. |
|
 Handling: |
This is where CRs shine, and the 91 model was no exception, it slides around corners and rails berms with unbelievable accuracy. My only complaint is that it gets twitchy at high speeds on loose rocks, really twitchy. Plus the bike is pretty low, which helps it corner, but it's also long which makes it harder to negotiate braking bumps or uphill turns. |
|
 Brakes: |
great, honda always does the brakes right. |
|
 Comments: |
Great bike, has the shape of a newer bike, but the handling, ergonomics, and looks of an older bike. I loved riding it. |

 Power: |
The power is mainly on the midrange but very strong and usable. It also had decent overrev for that time. |
|
 Suspension: |
Yack! Prepare to fiddle with different oil height and thickness. The Forks were not versatile; to make it plush for trail riding you need 2.5w oil, but to ride a MX track you need 7w with the oil level as high as possible. The shock is just fine but it kicks on square edged bumps sometimes and you can't dial out that annoying rear end swap. |
|
 Handling: |
The geometry is not so great. It really feels like an old bike. You are sitting in the bike unlike recent bikes where you sit more on top of the bike. Every adjustment you make is a compromise. You get some headshake and it still corners funny compared to newer bikes. The bike feels long and low. In that year, only Kawasaki got the handling department covered but reliability was nowhere as near. |
|
 Brakes: |
Really good for that time. Almost as good as recent CRs. |
