Unreal and keeps coming. You better learn how to lean forward and ride in a tucked position when taking off or you will learn how to fall on your A_s. |
|
 Ergonomics: |
Feels like a CR sits higher and skinny. Controls all feel great. I also have a KX500 to compare it to. Great feeling bike for MX tracks |

Ok compared to the new guys out there. You have to pretty much get onto a straight line and some what level groundor the tire will slip out on you. Trottle control is difficult since she wants to run hard. |
|
 Brakes: |
 Solid |

 Comments: |
Great bike for straighter areas and trails. Change your tires often to give your self the advantage and keep up with checking all nuts and bolts for tightness. They have a tendency to loosen up with that big 2 stroke getting loose. |

INCREDIBLE! 2-stroke with mine has a slight overbore, I can stroll up to a good sized hill and climb it almost like it was flat.
However there is not much inbetween on and off for the engine. The throttle response is in your face, litterally this bike will pull a wheelie in every gear. |
|
 Ergonomics: |
The feel of the bike is sturdy and everything is in good reach. My clutch feels a little hard to pull in but I am just getting back into riding off road again. Layout of controls is good, especially if you have good posture. |
|
 Suspension, Front: |
Takes rocks and jumps well, I am a cautious rider and a crazy rider at times. This bike handles both extremes well. never bottomed out yet and I am 190 lbs. firm for MX. |
|
 Suspension, Rear: |
I have not adjusted mine but at current setting has geat compression with out bottoming out and the reflex back will not through you. firm for MX, not the best sitting down trail riding bike, but it will take some serious air and land smooth. |
|
 Handling: |
This bike has a lot of weight and power, which is not so easy to through around, and I'm a good sized guy. But with nimble turning and weight shifting it responds well. I have to pull the clutch a lot in turns and slide back in the seat one side to the other and the bike will cut pretty well and a descent speed throught 2nd or third gear. |
|
 Brakes: |
duel disk are great and I have never had a lock up problem. For the weight of the bike stop time is great. |
|
 Comments: |
Great bike! try riding one if you never have just to feel the power of the 500. I have a great experience trying to push what this bike is capable of and develop my moto-cross skills. |

 Power: |
Power, well its a 500cc two stroke it pulls, mine has been modified for more low end power but ill be honest, my 86 KX500 would pull harder out the hole. The honda has a little more power upstairs but anyone sane enough to keep a 500 on the pipe would appreciate the top end. Once again 500cc two stroke, go away with the thumpers. |
|
 Ergonomics: |
Honda, What can i say. Has that feels like an old friend feeling i like so much about CR,s. Good compliant controls. Well placed pegs and generally all around good feeling. The dip in the seat also helps you keep your weight forward when charging forward. |
|
 Suspension, Front: |
Stiff, hondas early attempt at inverted forks. C, mon guys its not a CR250. Honda has a bad habbit of using 250R forks with stiffer springs. This makes things kinda stiff. Revalve me. |
|
 Suspension, Rear: |
PRO Link. Does a fair job at putting power to ground. I kinda blew out the shock after a day of pounding out big jumps. Ooops. Once again re valve for big air. |
|
 Handling: |
Turns well for a big bike but what is it with Hondas and head shake. Unstable at high speeds in straight likes but likes to turn inside for a 500. Keep the frount tire off the ground at speed. Lol |
|
 Brakes: |
Disks. Rear likes to overheat and faid. Frount likes to grab. Watch that one on goat trails. lol |
|
 Comments: |
Ehh not my favorate bike by a long shot. My KX500 had a better power band, and i thought my YZ490 was more nimble. But hey it out does my brothers Husqvarna 500XC all the way around. Kinda heavy. Reliable as a two stroke can be i guess. Not a bad ride all in all. |

 Power: |
Massive amount of power. My bike has a little more power than stock because it has pro circuit exhaust and aftermarket reeds. The bottom end is way more than needed. If you like to ride over open areas or blow 125s and 250s away this bike is awsome for that! |
|
 Suspension: |
Mine is stock and it takes just about anything you can give it. |
|
 Handling: |
Great except for you have to work the clutch on sharp corners or the power will make you loose control. |
|
 Brakes: |
Has front and rear disk. It will get you stopped quick. |
|
 Comments: |
These bikes are all around awsome. It never runs out of power and the handling is great. |

 Power: |
Incredible. Easily the most power ive ever felt in a dirtbike. The bike has an incredible amount of bottom end. My CR500 however was incredibly modified. I am sure they are just the same in stock trim. When starting it, if you get a kickback, it will throw you over that bars onto the ground, where you will be looking up at the bike wondering how you got there! |
|
 Suspension: |
As I said, my 500 was modified, so i do not know about the stock shocks. The one on my bike however were very plush, and worked great, never bottoming out. |
|
 Handling: |
The handling is this monster's downfall. With all that power the bike is hard to turn safely. You will be wheelieng into and out of every turn, so get used to it. |
|
 Brakes: |
The dual discs work great for all types of riding. |
|
 Comments: |
Too much power. Mine was Ported/Polished, bored to 510cc, had an FMF pipe, Pro Circuit silencer, and aftermarket suspension. It produced about 105hp. If you hit the powerband in any gear you would wheelie like theres no tomorow. Incredibly fast also. You can be on a trail with a 125, hes at his top speed, ur at 1/2 throttle in 4th. Wave to him, and wheelie right by him.. Gotta love it! |

Lots, never seems to peak out. Use a after market pipe. throw out the stock pipe. It is junk. |

very good, I upgraded to race tech. I am 230lbs. I cannot bottom out.. |
|
 Handling: |
For a 89 , very good. Some tight turns will wash out of going to fast. What else is new.. |
|
 Brakes: |
good. They are all disc... They never seem to fade. |
|
 Comments: |
good used bike... a bunch cheeper than a new one...
Gives a thrill that never quits. It will take on any dirt bike (except the kx500) and eat it alive. |

This bike is impressive to me. Hard to imagine racing it.. to much power to keep in line. Might make a good machine for jumping the snake river canyon in Idaho... |
