Long after the One Hit Wonders are gone! Eddie Will Still be out there on his Bob Cat cutting trails. It's what he Loves to to do! I belive everyone has lost focus on that and needs to give someone who has dedcated his life to it a little more respect then this.
I do not say much on here, but please think about what all is involved.
For me it's about money. I don't think anyone can charge $60.00 in gate fees for a family of 4 in addition to race fees and expect loyalty when something cheaper and better comes along. To be honest Eddie has done a lot for racing in Georgia and is responsible for getting a lot of people into the sport, myself included. As I said before I have no problem with Eddie making money and hope he continues to do so. However he is a business man and has made some errors in the way has conducted his business and treated his customers- price point being just one of them.

You're right, Eddie does this as a business too. He can't just run the bobcat and expect this to be long term successful. Hopefully this will help him in some way. In particular, promoting, and not just taking for granted that people will attend his races. I go back to my earlier post regarding the MX race. Not until the Wednesday or Thursday before did any additional info go on his site. It then only listed classes, no race format nothing. And he had what, 50 riders? Hopefully he will appreciate his rider count more and do more to promote his races in the future. He can use this as a postive or a negative, it's really up to him.

as for the johnson family...we will continue to support eddie and tammy..and the rest of the sorcs crew...i'd rather have myself and my daughter racing with those kind of folks..than to be be looked down someones snooty nose in another series...eddie may not be perfect..but who is?? his heart is in the right place...so say what you will...and think what you want to think...thats your choice...but i say they do a good job..and i stick with what i've said all along....if you have something to say to eddie..say it to his face...don't be a computer rambo!!! and if you don't like his series...don't race it!! just quit whining about it!! Nah, I dont' think there's been anything too bad said. I know Honda89 and Dennis and they're good dudes. Honda89 won an auction item on the charity auction that we did here on GOR a year or so ago. And I think he was also the first to get his money to me, which was greatly appreciated That was a very successful auction raising over $2,000 dollars for the Dream House for medically fragile children. I hope most remember that because it was a great example of dirtbikers working together doing good........Yes, I am still proud I was involved in that.
Since we were referred to as one hit wonders, I do want to address that a little. A brief history of wintertime team races in Georgia. There have been two wintertime teamraces. That's all. This doesn't include what Durhamtown may have done because I don't follow them. Last year was Eddies first wintertime team race. The year before that was Jeremy's first wintertime team race. Eddie and Jeremy were friends and they even talked about Jeremy's race before hand. I don't care to elaborate anymore on Eddie and Jeremy's friendship but it's a fact that Eddie did give some input Jeremy. it's also a fact that Jeremy was the first to take all the financial risks of doing a wintertime team race. There were people saying it wouldn't work, teams aren't going to show up in the dead of winter unless they're part of a series. Jeremy proved them wrong and had a very successful first race. So, you could argue that Eddie "stole" a race from Jeremy last year. I never saw that thread.
I've worked the last six days from sunrise to dark or pretty close to it. And I've enjoyed working my butt off outdoors in the woods. To that extent, I envy Eddie. It's far more enjoyable to be working on trail than any old desk job. And I hope Eddie and SORCS do well because we - "WE", meaning dirtbikers, are better off with a bigger crowd. More dirtbikers = more voice and that's very important now that the current administration is slanted more towards the enviro-wacko side of things.
We haven't talked to Sam Shaw yet (GOR user atwowheelguy) yet but we are hoping to involve him in our race to raise money for the Dream House. I have some ideas. If you don't know him, he's raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Dream House in the name of dirtbikers. He represents us very well. Also, we're hoping to have Civil War reenactors at our race and we hope to raise funds for their cause, land preservation. The local Lions Club will be doing food at the race and all of the money generated from that will stay in Social Circle. T-shirt sales will benefit the t-shirt sales guy 100%. No, Jeremy and I are not part of the Reinvestment and Recovery Act. We've even had a GOR poster say we should increase the price. We're not. My point to all of the above is Jeremy and I are not trying to make a nickel and we're certainly not trying to hurt Eddie - we just want to put on a good race. And if we can help others while doing this, then great.

ARod and Jeremy, rock on dudes! This will be one heck of a race, I have no doubts about it. Somebody mentioned earlier about sitting down with a home brew. I don't have any of the clear kind but my Rye Pale Ale will be ready for consumption next weekend. If we need to pull all the parties together for a "beer summit" and talk it out let me know.
