What a blast. Easily one of the best races I have done in Georgia. The terrain was great, everything from tight new-cut tree lines to 4th gear WFO fire roads. The course was very well marked which was great considering on the first lap there were no tracks through the trees so you felt like you were riding virgin trail. I had a great battle with a kid on a KXsomething on the second lap. I was pushing him pretty hard and I had a pretty wild get-off trying to get past him in the fast stuff. I remounted and caught him only to watch him wadd himself into a pair of trees. He looked like a pinball the way he bounced off them. He hit the ground like a ton of bricks so I stopped to check on him. He wouldn't talk to me, he just kept moaning then jumped on his bike and started kicking. I thought, 'well, guess he is ok'.
While I was attending to the KX kid, some guy on a honda 250 came by so I took off after him. I chased him the entire 3rd lap. I showed him a tire a couple of times but could never close the deal. Finally with about 5 minutes left in the lap, he got squirly in the mud and I got pass and quickly gapped him.
Some guy on a YZ250 came out of no where in front of me. I think he had cut the trail as he was way slower than me but was all over the place and cutting every corner to stay ahead of me. He finally wadded up so I got by him too.
I have no idea how I finished. I was just glad I made 3, 16-18 mile, loops on my stock tank.
Hopefully they will post the results this week.
There were a lot of quads getting ready to race when I left. Hopefully there is something left of the trails for the next race.

Tons of Sandbaggers. Easily 60+ guys between the 2 C classes and less than 15 guys total in B.
All Enduro boys really missed a great HS...
Way to go Mike and DP.

That KX kid was me  Thanks for stopping by the way ans sorry for not saying anything, I was trying to, but just couldn't. I finished fourth after riding the third lap basically with one arm. I'm pretty sure (from my grandma the X-ray technician) the end of my collarbone is fractured. I know what you mean about the guy on the YZ. He passed me when I fell, and I was still right behind him until I got gas, he had to have been cutting. Well, I'll see you guys in May :(

OK, well, I am so tired I couldn't twist the cap off my victory(as in, just finishing) Coors Light when I got home :D My forearms are killing me!

Thanks for describing the course BKiller, it was all a blur to me!

I had a blast the 1st lap. I did pull the hole shot and went 1st into the woods, then Jesse(Tweeked's daughter) then Nicole. Didn't take long for them to pass me  They are both awesome riders! It was like a train for the first few miles, tight woods and we had to pick off the youth riders. I did play alittle cat and mouse the 1st lap with Nicole, one thing I learned from that is just keep racing cause anything can happen, I came up on Nicole a few times stuck or tangled with some of the youth riders which let me pass her, but she always came back. I came thru the scoring tent 3rd the 1st lap, I think we were only seconds apart in the lap times, and went into the woods 1st while they were pitting for gas(gotta love the KDX tank & fuel milage!)
But, when they caught up I knew they were faster and didn't have the energy to "hold them off" so let them pass, I was tired and didn't want to do anything stupid while being pressured! Those teens have way more stamina than me. The 2nd lap was getting harder(for me anyways) a few more ruts in the softer mud to contend with, nothing major. I found myself on the ground alittle more the 2nd lap. Like coming into a corner a little too hot and sliding into it  Or the front end washing out or bouncing off trees, you name it. So, for a while on the 2nd lap, I was just cruising alone out there and then came up on Nicole on the side of the trail with bike problems  So, I got to pass her, but man those last few miles seemed endless and I was just wanting it to be over :|
So, finally it was over, 2nd in the Ladies Open out of 6. My first real harescramble! :)
If you ask me today would I do it again............no
Ask me tomorrow..................maybe
Ask me Monday...............probably
Ask me in a week................hopefully, yes!
The last half of the 2nd lap, I wasn't having a whole lot of fun, I was thinking, dang, just stick to the casual trail riding, it's more fun and you are too old for this :D

But, all in all, I think it was fun! And might do it again! Not sure yet.

I did pick up my friend Claudia(WyWy from the ladies forum) She was an awesome support crew for me and picture taker, so here are some pic's:

I did see Grizz there, he was another support member for me(helped unload my bike, thanks!) he placed 1st in his class, I think.
Also saw Duke, and KXrider 229 and his Dad, KXrider was not looking too good with the broken collar bone

Hmm, If you got 4th, I must of got 1st or 2nd because there was at least 1 guy between you and I.
I had a great time chasing you that lap. Did you hear me crash trying to pass you that one time. I tried to cut a turn straight and a log grabbed me and I swapped out right beside you!
I was stoked when I caught you but you scared me when you pinballed into those trees...
Hope you are back soon so we can race again.

I was in the 2-stroke c-class and got a great start. I was about 5th or 6th on the hole shot out of 27 riders in my class. Some body hit me in the side coming out of the first turn and he went down hard. Luckily for me he just bounced off ( hence my user name) and I was able to stay up and keep going. As soon as we hit the woods a long train formed behind a slower rider and he would not move over. It was tight enough that you cold not pass with out just absolutely ramming the guy in front of you so for a long time on the first lap this huge train just followed this slow guy. It was probably a blessing for me because it made me save energy for later in the race. About 3 miles into the first lap the trail was very tame and then out of nowhere it took about a 20 foot drop with a hard left at the bottom. My first time down it I saw a guy laying at the bottom off to the side who looked to be in a lot of pain. I think he must have done a header down it. He showed me his teeth and i took that as he was trying to smile. So I kept going and later saw him walking out on my second lap.

The second lap the riders got a lot more spread out. For just about the entire second lap I followed a guy on a YZ250 who was not real fast but seemed to have a lot of experience and was a very consistent rider. I actually got a little bored a couple of times and decided to pass him but both times I fell immediately and he just went right back by me. I was having a real hard time pacing myself if I was not following someone. I was having a real hard time with getting winded and I stared feeling like I was turning blue and after thinking about it for a while I realized my goggles were plugging my nose and because of the dust and exhaust I was not openIng my mouth. So after much deep inner thought I came to the conclusion that if I would breath a little then maybe I wouldn't feel so winded.

Finally on the third lap i started feeling my oats and I got my second wind and passed the YZ250 guy and then I had my best lap. I felt like I entered the zone and rode much faster the entire lap. the entire last lap I only saw 2 people and they were both girls. One was battling a really deep and muddy rut when I passed her. I truly was not trying to roost her but I was in some really deep nasty muck when I got beside her and I had to blast the throttle to get out of the muck I was in - So girl with the blond pony tail - I am sorry if I covered you in mud.

Weather was great! The trails were especially great!! The scoring - not so great. I was rider 307 and the end time listed in the results showed me finishing my second lap at 12:44 with no 3rd lap listed. Well 12:44 was the time I finished my 3rd lap so the scorer missed me at the check point at the end of my second lap. That being said I think I would have placed 10th in my class if the scoring was accurate.

Can't wait for the next one. Great job DP!!

I forgot to add that I clocked the course at about 14.5 miles, I finished my 2nd lap at around 12:15ish. I think our row took off 10:20ish, again all a blur :D I did hear a few people mention in the "c" class that they thought Mike mentioned they were supposed to be done after 2 laps( A&B 3 laps), so they pulled off after 2, but at the riders meeting, Mike said only do 3 if you feel like it, but they understood to not be scored for it, so maybe a little miscommunication there. They might have lost a few positions.

I had enough at 2, can't believe Meatloaf had his best lap on #3 :o
cbob said he was ready to go for 4! NOT!

Wait a sec? Are you saying I didn't get scored for my 3rd lap and that only the first 2 laps counted for the C line??
That's not how Mike made it sound during his rider's meeting.

No way, I am not trying to say anything or start trouble, just what I "heard" and read, I couldn't really hear what he said at the riders meeting from all the way in the back.
Here is a quote from Mike on the DP website:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peel skid and I rode the course today and checked the mileage

looks like this race will be appox 16 miles

we will run the A class 3 laps

we will stop the Ladies --Youth--C class at 2 laps

we expect 45 minute laps for the slower ones

A-class & B-class will do 3 laps

the course is a good one no real mud in it we put logs in the ditches and built crossing on 3 creek crossings

if it gets too fast I will do a reroute on the 2nd lap into the muddy bottoms....lol

if no rain on saturday the course will hold very well

the Quads will run a shorter course and on highter ground we do not want to blow the course out on the 1st race

thanks mike

What I just think is, some people read that or heard that and stopped at 2 laps(maybe because that was how they had their "mind set" after reading it & didn't hear it well at the riders meeting). Some people I talked to did 3 just to be "sure". All I know is, 3 was NOT an option for me
I have no idea if they scored the 3rd lap or not for the "c" riders. I would assume if you did 3 laps, that they scored you for 3 laps.

Sounds like it was a great race today! My son went and raced without me for the first time today. I was stuck in Orlando on business. I talked to him after the race, he was wore out but he had a great time!

I want to thank the good samaritians that pitted for him and gave him fuel during the race. He had forgotten to have someone there to do that for him.

I was a nervous wreck knowing he was racing without me there. He told me he would take it easy since this was the first race and that he had not ridden much in the past year, but you know how kids are. I am sure as soon as the race started the "taking it easy" went out the window. I know from now on I will plan my schedule around the race schedule!

Great reports everyone. I especially like K-Momma's about her being a parent. That's one of the main reasons I got back into riding. I'm paying for past sins and was therefore blessed w/ all girls. :hmm:

They don't play football, baseball/softball is too boring, daddy refuses to do the soccer thing, and, now, all they want to do is watch my TIVO recordings of motorcycle racing. I've found something I can do w/ my kids.

KUDOS to all you guys.
