GARTRA – Founded in 1992
Received Non-Profit status in 1993
Founding member of the GA DNR Trail Advisory Committee and still a member today.
AMA Chartered Club
Main purpose is to build and maintain ORV trails in GA.
Concerned about the environment and the future of our sport, which is why our dedicated volunteers man the trails.
The clubs beginnings started around the closure of the Whissenhant ORV area that suffered severe Winter storm damage. The Forest Service did not have the resources to make the necessary repairs to open the trails. This is when a group of Metro Atlanta dirt riders organized and formed a partnership with the Forest Service to rehabilitate the Whissenhant ORV area.
Our contributions to the partnership consist of workdays, fund raisers and cash donations. With the like-kind hours from the workdays the Forest Service can access Federal Gas Tax dollars. These dollars are used for further trail maintenance needs.
GARTRA holds workdays at Whissenhant, Town Creek, Locust Stake & Oakey Mountain.
GARTRA owns three ATVs outfitted with trail maintenance equipment that are used at the scheduled workdays.
